THE CONCEPT OF SERVICE AND AUTHORITY IN THE LIFE OF ST. GREGORY THE GREAT

Saturday, September 3, 2022 10:00a.m.-11:30p.m.

Gregory's view of service and authority are rooted in his understanding of the Incarnation as an act of humility; and that the authority stems from humility, not power. He grounded his entire notion of pastoral care on this concept go authority as service, not servitude of those obeying. He is considered by many church historians as the greatest of all pontiffs in the history of the Roman Church,

Fr. Aelred Niespolo has been a monk of Valyermo since 2001 and was ordained to the priesthood in 2005. Having completed the Master of Theology program at Oxford University, he teaches at St. John's Seminary in Camarillo. He is editor of the Valyermo Chronicle and has served as Director of Oblates.
